Definition: [ ~ (in something) ] A period of time during which something stops or becomes less strong, difficult, etc; a reduction in the strength of something: abatement: alleviation.

2. Period was seen coming, That is, its approach was recognized, whether prepared for or not. In other words, situation is understandable and nothing can be done to avoid it.

4. Situation lasts for duration desired or for a period of time considered appropriate.

5. Period was taken advantage of and no serious loss, damage, destruction, etc. is suffered or occurs during the particular time.

6. A possibility to make thing restart, strong, more difficult, etc. again, if desired, exists at the very end of period.
