Definition: (in tennis) A serve that lands in the correct part of the court but must be taken again because it has touched the top of the net.

1. Purposeful and necessary - to comply with the rule.

2. Touch that called for a repeat is true and cannot be challenged.

3. Next serve goes in correctly, whether point is worn or not. That is, no 'destabilization' is caused by or from earlier 'error'.

4. No damage occurs to net or racket from try and retries.

5. Server (= player) is not exhausted as a result of the many numerous attempts that will or may be made.

6. Serves purpose(s) - so that game can be continued.
