Definition: [ ~ (to somebody) ] An experience, especially an unpleasant one, that somebody can learn from so that it does not happen again in the future.

* All eight elements should be in.


1. Purposeful and necessary, whether ..., whichever or whatever.

2. Unpleasantness or particular salutary experience was unexpected.

3. A loss or losses, planned or unplanned, is/are suffered as a result of the experience. (But this does not lead to death or a permanent disability.)

4. The learning is thorough and complete. That is, lesson is/was learned the hardest way. In other words, there will be an awareness or recognition, if the signs of the events, that may try to mislead or confuse (again), are seen or being repeated in the future.

5. A psychological and practical preparation or readiness, by the person who had experience, is made for the future, in case of a recurrence or a coincidence threatening.

6. Circumstances or situation that may lead to same situation repeating itself are avoided. And an augury of future danger or risk that will result in a loss, disadvantage, etc. can be recognized early, as a consequence.

7. Other people who have not had same experience, and/or the cause or source of unpleasantness, is/are warned so as to avoid the same mistake (= experience). (To emphasize, connect to #6 & #8.)

8. Experience serves purpose(s), but only if what is assimilated will not ever be forgotten.
