| LEGALESE Definition: (informal) The sort of language used in legal documents that is difficult to understand. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary to use 'jargon'. (Connect to #6.) 2. Sticks to too much legal technicalities, maxims, etc. 3. Never directly addresses the facts related to the issue at hand. That is, efforts (= writings, notes, etc.) made will be mainly diversionary in nature. 4. Loss will be suffered by the person trying to unravel language, without recourse to an 'expert'. 5. (Reserved.) (Standpoint or view taken by writing/language will be hypothetical and generally shady. That is, words chosen or wordings will not have conclusive meaning in law - such that even (a) the 'judge' will not easily understand!) 6. Considered unavoidable, by originator/writer to use language, even if purpose(s) is/are not served by its usage. __________________________________________________________ ... but, NOT DIFFICULT FOR A TRULY 'LEARNED FRIEND'. | |
