| LEGAL ETIQUETTE Definition: The polite and correct behaviour that is expected from a qualified and active practitioner in the temple of justice. ______________________________________________________________________ * All ten elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for the persons to be 'gentlemanly'. 2. There will be no deliberate misdirection by the judge or lawyer. 3. Advocates will not scramble for a brief, especially in a law court. 4. Certificate to practice or eligibility to adjudicate will be valid. 5. Policy will be that of full, honest disclosure of the ins and outs. 6. A lacuna in, or an impending review or abrogation of, an extant law, will not be strange when confronted with the facts. That is, the professional will be up and doing, learning and researching, etc. 7. Professional or retainer fees, costs awarded or fine imposed, etc. will be competitive in the opinion of litigant or who has to pay. 8. Untoward dealing or out-of-court contact, directly or through third parties, with the judge(s) or litigant(s) will be non-existent. 9. No case of an abandonment of a client (by a solicitor) or the premature dismissal of a case (by a judge) or politically-influenced nolle prosecui (by a Director of Public Prosecution) will be present. 10.
