| LAST RITES Definitions: i. (usually - the last rites) A Christian religious ceremony that a priest performs for, and in the presence of, a dying person. ii. The last rites are a religious ceremony performed by a Christian priest for a dying person. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary, especially for the dying. 2. Probability of dying soon will be high and the taking of a final breath will be expected very shortly after rituals. 3. Processes or procedures will be specific and identifiable, whether or not these acts, actions, etc. are institutionalized or a liturgy. ___________________________ See perfect GONER. That is, there will be no opposition or protest, written in a will or uttered, by the soon-to-be deceased. 5. Dying person will be in a state or condition of being able to contribute or participate in activities of ceremony, if necessary. That is, not a brain damaged or brain dead person.
