| LAP OF HONOUR Definition: (informal) (sports) A race, once around the lap of a race track, especially to celebrate winning. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful, even if considered by some as unnecessary. 2. (Reserved.) (Embarked on by all members, if win is in a team event. And not undertaken together with a runner-up!) (To emphasize.) 3. Victory was genuinely earned - no false start, no use of banned substances or performance-enhancing drugs, no manipulation by the official(s), etc. And result will not be cancelled afterwards, for the race to be repeated (if applicable)! 4. Commences at the right time - before or after the collection of medal(s), certificate(s), etc. 5. Co-contestant(s) is/are not mocked or teased during 'the show'. 6. Spectators get deserved attention - waves, blown kisses, high fives, autographs, photo-sessions, etc. 7. Pace is right and duration is appropriate. That is, act does not disturb another event, if any. And exhaustion, burnout or collapse won't result therefrom. 8. No injury or unplanned loss occurs to the winner(s), from the expression of joy (connect to #7). 9. Completed. That is, trot, walk, jog or run, starts and ends at the 'finish line' (to emphasize).
