| LANGUAGE (1) Definition: The system of communication in speech and writing that is used by people of a particular country or area. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary. 2. Specific and identifiable. And unique to particular country or area, or group of countries or areas. 3. Easy to teach/study, learn and/or understand - not necessarily magniloquent. 4. Can be expressed conveniently. That is, its speech sounds will not be difficult for speakers. In other words, pronunciation, etc. will not be problematic. 5. Complete and fully cultivated. And will exists for as long as the people using it desire. (connect to #6). 6. Alive and can grow or develop. That is, changing society, culture and traditions will make its form, structure, lexis, etc. adaptable and meaningful, at any point in time. In other words, system is dynamic and can be modified or changed - not going extinct ! 7. Can be translated, even if written in dactyls. (To emphasize.) 8.
