Definitions:

i. A group of members of the public who listen to the facts of a case in a court and decide whether or not somebody is guilty of a crime.

ii. (US) A body of (usually 12) responsible, impartial citizens summoned to hear evidence in a court of law and bound under oath to give an honest answer based on this evidence to questions put before them.

* All nine elements should be in.


1. Purposeful and necessary, as demanded by law.

2. Selected fairly and correctly; transparently.

3. Picks the leader from, among and by, themselves.

4. All members, including the alternate member(s), if any, are attentive throughout duration of court sittings.

5. Has an informed guide, or group is guided as proceedings progress.

6. The members hearing abilities are excellent (connect to #3).

7. Will not be misdirected by the judge/judge advocate, etc. during and at the end of case/proceedings. (To emphasize.)

8. Completely unanimous in their decision. And this will be arrived at voluntarily, and consciously, by each individual member.

9. Serves purpose(s) - dispenses justice, however long it takes for group to arrive at a decision. That is, gets to grips with its duties. In other words, won't be hung!
