| INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM Definition: (informal) The work of collecting and writing news stories for newspapers and magazines that is conducted in an inquisitive way and reveals what was not previously known. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Purposeful for the busybody 'pen-pusher(s)' and publisher(s). 2. Believed necessary to unravel the hidden and/or unknown. 3. Form is never denied, if the journalist(s) is/are asked. 4. No law will be broken in the course of prying or 'searching'. 5. Activity will be concluded or completed, however long it takes. ________________________________ ... it's GOOD OLD-FASHIONED. 6. Findings will be released - published or broadcast in its entirety. 7. Achieves goal(s) or serves purpose(s) for the inquisitive finder. _____________________________ See perfect REPORTING. See perfect LETHALITY. 8. Media organization or publisher, individual, group or country, etc. will not suffer an unplanned loss as a result of revelation. 9. Efforts involved would not have been foreseen. That is, budget will be overshot, time or deadline exceeded, pledge broken, etc. In other words, the 'special work' has got to be done, will never be sacrificed at any altar. ____________________________________ ... eh!
