INTERVENTION (2)

Definition: The act of interrupting somebody when they are speaking in order to say something.

* All eight elements should be in.


1. Purposeful and necessary to interrupt speaker, in the opinion of who has something to say.

2. An indication was given, or permission was sought, and accepted or granted, before start of talk.

3. Person interrupted keeps quiet while new speaker is talking.

4. What is said during interval makes some sense, to all present. And is not a repetition or 'rehash' of what previous speaker was saying !

5. There will be no chance of previous speaker, being prevented from resuming or continuing talk, even if this is not really necessary.

6. No disagreement, dispute, etc. arises afterwards, as a direct outcome of interruption, not as a result of what was said in the interval (connect to #2 & #3).

7. Period of time taken by new speaker will not be considered as unreasonable, especially by the other(s) (connect to #5).

8. Act serves purpose(s), whether or not appreciated by the other(s).
