| AUGURY (1) Definition: (literary) A sign of what will happen in the future. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements should be in. 1. Concise and transparent; not fuzzy, bedazzling, bemusing, obscurantist, intractable, etc. 2. Has a fixed and determinate basis - past record, direction, etc. That is, 'prognosis' or 'potential' will be correct. 3. Measurable and/or assessable; 'readable' and directly linked to what will be, whether good or bad. 4. Lifespan/presence or longevity/continuation of sign cannot be shortened or compromised. That is, event will eventually happen. 5. Has a time lag from future event. That is, sign does not continue ad infinitum. And not appearing just before expected occurrence. 6. Interpretation of sign will be unmistakable. That is, what will be expected will be specific and identifiable. 7.
