Definition: (disapproving) An indirect remark about somebody/something, usually suggesting something bad or rude; the use of remarks like this.

1. Purposeful and necessary, for speaker/writer.

2. Heard clearly or read fully and understandable or understood, as an indirect way of suggesting badness or of being rude.

3. Speaker/writer has no confidence or authority to come direct - to be very definitive or most incisive.

4. What is insinuated can be restated and/or defended, if necessary. And will never be withdrawn, whatever the risk or threat involved.

5. No sanction, loss, disadvantage, etc. is suffered as a direct outcome of indirectness, whether message/insult is taken or not.

6. Achieves objective(s), however bad or hurtful and whether remark or comment is reacted to immediately or afterwards.

7. What is stated is not untrue, not inconsistent, inconclusive or contradictory. (To emphasize.)
