INDIFFERENCE (1)

Definition: [ ~ (to somebody/something) ] A lack of interest, feeling or reaction towards somebody/something.

1. Purposeful and necessary for the person or thing showing another person or thing a 'devil-may-care' attitude (connect to #6).

2. Lack is deliberate. That is, a capacity or ability to show interest (= care), feeling (= emotion) or reaction (= impulse) is possessed.

3. There is an expectation, by an intended recipient, that interest, feeling or reaction will be shown.

4. Extent of lack is full and real. That is, not selective or conditional disinterest and not an overreaction!

5. Approach adopted does not break a law of flout official rules and regulations.

6. Situation lasts for an appropriate duration, to help achieve objective(s). (Connect to #7 & #9.)

7. Nothing is lost by the person/thing displaying a lack of interest, feeling or reaction.

8. Person or thing deprived of interest, etc. is diminished somewhat.

9. Something is gained - peace of mind, freedom from suspicion, respect, etc. - by the person or thing showing disregard; has no costs.
