Index liborum prohibitorum
INDEX LIBORUM PROHIBITORUM

Definition: (history) A list of books regarded as endangering faith or morals which Roman Catholics were forbidden by Church authority to read in whole or part without permission. It included the Index Expurgatorius of books forbidden until they had been revised or had omissions made in them. It was suppressed in 1966.
