| IMPASSE (1) Definition: A difficult situation in which no progress can be made because the people involved cannot agree what to do. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Not foreseen or forecasted. So no preparation is made for difficulty (hey?!). 2. Efforts are made to reach an agreement or a compromise, but these all fail (there are only dead ends now). 3. There is really no confusion. That is, the people know exactly what they want (only a selfishness or some strong-mindedness). 4. No unpleasantness, discord or shouting disagreement in the situation (just the absence of group cohesion, arising from collective indecision). 5. No possibility of an intervention by a third party - court, etc. - that will bring about an agreement (Nah!). 6. Lasts or sustained for a considerable period of time to result in a loss, error, disadvantage, etc. (what's happening?). 7.
