Ill-gotten gains
ILL-GOTTEN GAINS

Definition: Ill-gotten gains are things that someone has obtained in a dishonest or illegal way.

1. Purposeful and necessary, for the person concerned, to obtain the particular things - not the dishonesty or an illegality.

2. No real, positive efforts or genuine, serious input will be put into the endeavour that will bring about the benefits obtained.

3. Dishonesty or illegality does not include or result in the loss of a single human life, destruction of the environment or ecosystem, etc.

4. Things or the methods of acquisition cannot be paraded openly, or announced gleefully, or admitted publicly, or displayed proudly.

5. Things will be utilized or managed, administered or invested, etc. wisely or prudently by the 'thief', no matter how little or small.

6. The taxman or law enforcement will not be able to confiscate or embargo the use of the things once possessed. That is, some legal cover will be provided for fruits of embezzlement, corruption, etc. In order words, 'thieving' will be gotten away with by the cheat or lawbreaker!

7. Usage or management, display or presentation, etc., of the things will end up benefiting the public (to emphasize, connect to #5).
