| IDENTIFICATION PARADE Definition: A row of people, including one person who is suspected of a crime, who are shown to a witness to see if he or she can recognize the criminal. ______________________________________________________________________ * All ten elements should be in. 1. Purposeful (to emphasize). 2. Necessary to conduct parade. 3. No person in row has had a 'makeover', by way of a surgery, 'nosejob', etc. after the crime. 4. No one in row has a 'mask' on or puts on a make-up, unless ... . 5. Persons in row are in the same standing/sitting position. And, if necessary, are asked to perform the same act(s)/action(s), where it is believed this/these could help the witness. 6. Witness has an acute sense of sight, smell and hearing. But must not touch any person in the row! (See definition, to emphasize). 7. The rights of the persons in row are respected. That is, parade is conducted while observing the suspects' fundamental human rights. In other words, 'people display' is conducted lawfully. 8. (Reserved.) (If the suspect is an identical twin, the other twin is also paraded!) (Connect to #6.) 9. Adequate time is provided for the witness to perform task. 10. Action achieves objective(s).
