| HYPOCHONDRIA (1) Definition: A state in which somebody worries all the time about their health and believes that they are ill/sick when there is nothing wrong with them. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for the fretful, even though this state cannot be defended (connect to #2). 2. A medical has been undertaken and an 'all-clear' result, issued by the doctor, is doubted or disbelieved. 3. No symptom or sign whatsoever to justify discomfort. 4. Self-examination and self medication, whether with herbal drugs or western medicines, are continuously done in the situation. 5. No guarantee, assurance, reassurance, etc. will take fear away. That is, state has a quality of permanency (see definition, to emphasize). 6. A loss or some losses will arise from the state, even if this is not so obvious to hypochondriac. 7. Efforts that person will put into an endeavour would not be optimal, as a result of (unfounded) fear, even if desired results are obtained from input(s). ___________________________ See perfect WORRY (1).
