Hypercorrection
HYPERCORRECTION

Definition: (linguistics) The use of a wrong form or pronunciation of a word by somebody who is trying to show that they can use language correctly. For example, the use of I instead of me in the sentence 'They invited my husband and I to dinner'.

1. Undesired and not wished for.

2. Misquotation, misuse or mispronunciation comes out prominently. That is, word is said loudly or writing is boldly done.

3. Person is/was or would be corrected, but this is/was not immediately accepted by 'genius'.

4. Loss of opportunity, reputation or standing, etc. will arise as a direct result of error, even if this is not realized immediately on its occurrence (connect to #3, to emphasize).

5. Incorrectness will be confirmed later after appropriate checks would have been made on spelling, tense, pronunciation, etc.
