| HYPE Definition: (informal, disapproving) Advertisements and discussion on television, radio, etc. telling the public about a product and about how good or important it is. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary, with or without embellishments. 2. What is said is specific and identifiable, measurable and/or assessable, whatever the medium of communication. 3. Item(s) or feature(s) is/are timely advertised or discussed, whatever the product and whichever the issue, when it is believed that purpose(s) can still be achieved. 4. Will require no demonstration, experiment, proof, practicals, etc. to convince listeners/watchers. That is, advert and discussion is all display, projection, commentary and talk! 5. Sustained for the duration necessary, be this minutes, hours, days ... or much longer. 6. Leaves no unanswered question, whether it is a fib (= lie or fabrication!), truth (= fact!!) or half-truth (= exaggeration!!!). 7. Presentation, speech, conversation, explanation, etc. will be concluded. (Connect to #5 & #6.) 8.
