Hydrofracturing
HYDROFRACTURING

Definitions:

i. The process of extracting natural gas from shale rock layers deep within the earth.

ii. A technique in which typically water is mixed with sand and chemicals, and the mixture is injected at high pressure into a wellbore to create small fractures (typically less than 1 mm), along which fluid such as gas, petroleum and brine may migrate to the well.

iii. Hydrofracturing refers to the procedure of creating fractures in rocks and rock formations by injecting fluid into cracks to force them further open.
