| HUSTINGS (2) Definition: (usually - the hustings) The political meetings, speeches, etc. that take place in the period before an election. ______________________________________________________________________ * All twelve elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for the political animals involved. 2. Time or timing will be appropriately close to end of campaigns. 3. Arrangements and programmes will always be ad-hoc, never excellent. 4. An agenda or event will generally be incomplete or inconclusive. 5. Organization and planning will hardly be detailed or comprehensive. 6. Stops on road will be certain to be one-offs throughout 'journeys'. 7. Attention will never be fully focused on issues. Therefore, no new commitments or pledges will be extracted or made at this time. 8. Meetings, speeches, etc. will take place only in 'battlegrounds' - not in areas considered safe seats (connect to #6). 9. Brings no unplanned loss - burnout, exhaustion, enervation, bankruptcy, decamping, etc. to the organizers and/or campaigners. 10. There would be limitations and/or restrictions in terms of time, space, resources, etc. that would have been otherwise needed to do more than would be accomplished or desired to be achieved. 11. (Reserved.) (No electoral law will be broken, or illegality committed, during 'final last lap' of the desperation to win over supporters or convince the 'don't-knows'!) 12.
