| HOSTAGE-TAKING Definition: The act of capturing somebody and holding them prisoner, with the possibility of injuring or killing them if people do not do what is being asked. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements would be in. 1. Purposeful for the hostage-taker(s) (to emphasize). 2. Considered a necessity to capture person (connect to #1). 3. (Reserved.) (Person captured is not the wrong victim, even if he or she turns out a bigger 'catch'!) 4. No injury - apart from the psychological trauma - is suffered throughout by the victim. And he or she is 'properly' and humanely cared for by the kidnapper(s)/abductor(s). 5. Demand (= ask) is real or realistic, and directed to the right quarter(s)! And can be negotiated!! 6. No attempt will be made by hostage to escape that could lead to a physical injury being sustained, while escaping or while being recaptured! 7. Captor(s) or kidnapper(s) can keep to their side of the bargain, when the deal or a transaction' is sealed or concluded. 8. No deliberate injury or killing of hostage will take place, especially if what is demanded by hostage-taker(s), is done, whether partially or fully. (Connect to #9.) 9. After achieving aim(s), hostage-taker(s) is/are not arrested.
