| HOSPITALIZATION (1) Definition: The act of admitting somebody into a hospital for treatment. ______________________________________________________________________ * All ten elements should be in. 1. Considered necessary to take person into hospital, instead of attending to him or her as an outpatient. 2. Person is really unwell, not someone suffering from Munchausen's syndrome or hypochondria or having a near-death experience! 3. Person arrives hospital on time, and admission and commencement of treatment is prompt. 4. State of patient is one in which appropriate response can be given during consultation, to instructions, etc. 5. The right medical professionals are present and handle patient effectively and efficiently. 6. Equipment and facilities needed to conduct tests, examinations, etc. are all in excellent working order. 7. All that is required by way of drugs, special services, etc. are available withing hospital premises. That is, patient will not need to be taken out of hospital before he or she is due for a discharge. 8. Hospital is very clean, neat, tidy and hygienic. And room where patient is observed and treated is conducive for quick recovery. 9. Hospital ward, room, etc. where patient is kept is safe, secured and offers adequate protection. And the surroundings of hospital are safe as well. 10. Act achieves goal(s).
