Honourable mention
HONOURABLE MENTION

Definition: If something that you do in a competition is given an honourable mention, it receives special praise from the judges although it does not actually win a prize.

* All six elements would be in.

1. Purposeful and necessary, but only for the judges !

2. Not what another co-competitor, if any, had done in the particular competition, no matter the number 'honoured'.

3. Will highlight what the 'shortfall' was that prevented victory.

4. Acknowledged and appreciated, especially by the prize winner(s) and 'opposition', if any, and applauded; 'disappointingly encouraging'.

5. The decision (= judgment) that gave prize to another (= winner) was not biased or partial. (To emphasize.)

6. What will be said will have a short, temporary lifespan. That is, words of encouragement won't be dwelt on; not remembered much later. In other words, praise will not to be celebrated.
