Definition: A true but unpleasant fact about a person, usually told to them by somebody else.

* All six elements should be in.


1. Purposeful for person who tells or told, whether recipient accepted or not.

2. Considered a necessity to talk or say, prompted or not.

3. Person being told suspected unpleasant fact (= truth!), even though admission would be unpalatable and confirmation was not requested or desired. And even if he or she may not be bothered.

4. Fact had not been told, directly or openly, to this person by anyone else before (now).

5. Told or revealed timely, in the opinion of person who talked, especially if speaker is closely related to the hearer of unpleasant fact.

6. Unpleasant truth is heard clearly and/or carefully listened to, or read and understood completely.
