HOLDOUT

Definition: (American) A holdout is someone who refuses to agree with other people in a particular situation and by doing so stops the situation from progressing or being resolved.

1. Purposeful and considered necessary by the 'recalcitrant' person.

2. Will have and state a valid reason or justification for stance.

3. Expects a benefit or gain, declared or not, from 'stubbornness'.

4. Cannot have conditions that will need to be fulfilled by the rest.

5. Aware of and ready to bear the consequence(s) of the disagreement.

6. (Reserved.) (Cannot win the majority or others to his or her side.)

7. The others will suffer a loss, disadvantage, etc. as a consequence.

8. A threat or sanction, law or rule, etc. cannot cause a change mind.

9. Person cannot be killed or kidnapped to clear a way for the others.
