| HOBBY HORSE (1) Definition: (sometimes disapproving) A subject that somebody feels strongly about and likes to talk about. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements would be in. 1. No serious effort will be made to recall subject or bring up topic or to sustain a discussion once matter comes to the fore. 2. Talk will be considered purposeful and necessary by who is strongly interested in subject matter. 3. Outcome of talk will not be expected to be a loss, disadvantage, embarrassment, inconvenience, etc. 4. Response or reaction to what might be said will be predictable, especially if listener(s) is/are attentive. 5. Talk will be animated, exciting, thrilling, etc. even if subject is taboo or controversial. 6. What will be said will be completely true; inexhaustible. And talk will continue till 'talk time' will be up. 7. Talker will be very familiar with subject. And 'loudmouth' cannot be 'defeated' in a debate about what is being discussed. 8.
