| HEIR APPARENT (2) Definition: [ ~ (to something) ] A person that is expected to take the job of a somebody when that person leaves. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary to be considered as the 'next-in-line' for particular post. (But not to wind up or close business or 'kill' or 'destroy' job!) 2. Occupies the appropriate post or position. Or being properly trained or groomed for the impending responsibility. And/or not involved in a task that cannot be 'abandoned' when the occupant of post leaves. That is person is aware of and ready for possible future role. (And is not necessarily a deputy or an assistant or the minister of state or a vice or the 'Number 2'.) 3. Qualified. Suitable. Capable. (Or training and/or learning to be qualified, suitable and capable.) 4. Looking forward to the opportunity. That is, likes or will like the opportunity that new job will provide. (Will not be ashamed, afraid or scared, to resume at new post, when chance arises.) 5. Patient, not desperate or in a rush. That is, actions taken while waiting will not engender the sack or dismissal, transfer or demotion, or cause the death of the soon-to-be predecessor. And person (= 'heir') will be around, 'hale and hearty', when post/position becomes vacant. (Waiting, hoping, praying, etc. for the chance to move up.) 6. Will do nothing by way of a protest, legal action, etc. if and when expectation is ended. That is, does not consider impending elevation as a right. (But will not undergo an eligibility test, on vacancy becoming available.) (To emphasize.) ____________________________________________________ ... yes, everyone knows and recognizes this heir.
