| HECKLING Definition: The act of interrupting a speaker at a public meeting by shouting questions or making rude remarks. ______________________________________________________________________ * All seven elements would be in. 1. Purposeful and considered necessary, in the opinion of the heckler(s). 2. Questions and remarks are persistent, repetitive, insistent, annoying, etc., meaningful or meaningless. 3. Person around the heckler(s) are inconvenienced, disturbed. That is, action is restricted to only particular member(s) in audience. 4. Speaker notes the presence of heckler(s). That is, questions asked and remarks made are clearly heard. 5. Disruption or disturbance has an effect on the speaker and meeting. That is, action achieves objective(s). 6. Heckler(s) is/are not arrested or harassed. And not heckled back ! 7. Disturbance lasts for an appropriate period of time, in the opinion of speaker. That is, meeting is able to continue and/or be concluded, in spite of ... _____________________________ ... NO SHOE-THROWING ! | |
