ASSOCIATION OF IDEAS

Definition: (philosophy) A thought process by which one mental state, frequently met in connection with another mental state, becomes in itself evocative of this other state (e.g. some taste or sound vividly recalls a childhood experience).

1. Convergence occurs while one is in an active frame of mind.

2. Both states - current and past - would be natural, not induced.

3. Process will be 'calculated' or 'programmed'. That is, nothing will be done to assuage the development of a feeling or an emotion.

4. The realization, actuation or actualization will happen quickly.

5. (Reserved.) (Whatever will be invoked will not hamper progress!)

6. A connection or connectedness will mark a termination of old state.

7. Some good or benefit will be attained from recall or revisit.

8. The outcome or mental picture will be clear and detailed, whether this is interesting or frightening, appreciated or misunderstood, etc.

9. Response or reaction, if any, will not bring some unintended consequence(s).
