Definition: The process of acquiring hearsay (that which one has been told but has not directly experienced).

1. Decision is made to 'sniff'; purpose and necessity is established.

2. Clear indication of intention will be seen by provider(s) of tale.

3. Declaration will be that nothing related had been previously heard.

4. A question or request will be asked or tabled for who is 'source'.

5. Skill to listen (patience) and comprehend (attentiveness) is shown.

6. A single demand or request, for a proof of veracity, won't be made.

7. Reconfirmation, if need be, of what was heard earlier will be made.

8. Acquired information, as is, gets 'prepared', ready for grapevine.
