| HAND-ME-UP Definition: An item that somebody gives to an older member of their family because they no longer use it or because they have bought something better to replace it. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary, for both the giver and the receiver. 2. Item is or will be usable. That is, it will be fitting, comfortable and convenient for the oldie. 3. Clean, neat and tidy, especially at point or time of transfer. 4. Passed on unconditionally - no request for a payment or the rendering of a service in lieu. 5. Handed over in a respectable or respectful manner - not with demeaning or belittling comments, gestures, etc. 6. Serves purpose(s). That is, item will be used (connect to #8). 7. No recall/return demand will be made on or of item, at a future time or date, especially when a disagreement arises between 'kind', so-called 'benefactor' and 'undeserving' beneficiary. 8.
