Definition: (idiomatic - go off at half-cock) (British English, informal) To start before preparations are complete, so that the effect or result is not as it should be.

1. Purposeful, for who is in a hurry, even as act or action is thought unnecessary, indefensible by others (connect to #3, to emphasize).

2. No excuse not to complete preparations. That is, time, materials, support, etc. are not in short supply. In other words, no justification for impatience or for not exercising composure or restraint.

3. Expectation or hope on starting thing was for an excellent effect or result, as if the preparations were complete and thorough.

4. Outcome (= effect) or output (= end result) will not turn out completely useless. That is, preparations will not need to be restarted from the very beginning, to continue or conclude task.

5. Some loss, or losses, even if this/these is/are minimal, will be suffered. That is, effect or result obtained will be inappropriate.

6. A lesson will be learned from the needless hurry that resulted in an undesired outcome.
