Definition: [ ~ (in something) ] A person who has a university degree.

1. Earned certificate (= degree!). That is, worked assiduously and honestly while studying for degree(s).

2. Was found worthy in learning and character to be awarded degree(s).

3. Can defend the class of qualification earned (connect to #4).

4. Employable or employed. And will match qualification - grade or class - with output and/or productivity.

5. The educational institution (= university!) 'passed through' this person. That is, degree holder is expected to be streetwise or have some common sense as a result of acquired learning.

6. Reasoning, analysis, thought process, decision-making, etc. is expected to be typical of an educated mind; should be a provider of solution(s).

7. Person is thinking of, and, if in a position, practically contributing to a better society as a result of possessed qualification.

8. Still learning as an applicant, trainee, employee, researcher, etc., especially in his or her area of specialization.
