| GLAD RAGS Definition: (old-fashioned, informal) A person's best clothes, worn on a special occasion. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary to earmark clothes as best. 2. Worn rarely (to emphasize). 3. Will have no tear, cut, opening or a missing button, etc. That is, clothes will be patched up, repaired or mended, if necessary, before it is worn, ... for special outing. 4. Neat, clean and tidy. 5. (Reserved.) (Always kept hidden or covered. That is, clothes are not in the 'open', and therefore, not seen everyday!) 6. Clothes are not old-fashioned, or 'ancient', even if not fashionable. That is, wearer will not look strange or out of place at an occasion, as a result of what he or she is dressed in. 7. Clothes have no match or alternative, in the person's box or wardrobe - not one of a set of owner's 'very best'. 8. Serves purpose(s). That is, person will not be turned away from special occasion, on account of his or her clothes! _______________________________ ... like 'CHRISTMAS DRESS'. | |
