| GIVEBACK Definition: (North American English) A situation in which workers agree to accept lower wages or fewer benefits at a particular time, in return for more money or benefits later. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary. 2. The terms of the 'agreement' are cast solid. That is, plans and projections are written down, and signed, by the parties involved (= the workers/union and the management/board). 3. Deal or promise is kept, especially by the employer! 4. The value or worth of what will be received later - wage increase or restored benefits - will not be insignificant or diminished as a result of inflation, etc. 5. Situation or arrangement does not lead to a loss, especially for the company. That is, productivity, during the 'acquiescence period', will still be at the maximum possible level. 6.
