FRIVOLITY (1)

Definition: (often disapproving) Behaviour that is silly or amusing, especially when this is not suitable.

1. Person showing silly or amusing behaviour will be expected to be more sensible or serious at the point in time or in the particular situation.

2. Unsuitability will be pointed out to 'clown'. That is, person will have no encouragement to continue foolishness. And state will, therefore, not permit the features of, or message in, silliness or amusement to be appreciated or responded to.

3. Precious time and/or scarce resources will be used to attempt or to try to stop buffoon. That is, efforts will be made to deflect from rubbish or to not be distracted by nonsense.

4. Causes an annoyance, brings about an embarrassment, results in a loss, etc., for another or for the others who is/are being serious or reasonable, as misbehaviour would not have been in any way prepared for or expected.

5. Who displays unsuitable behaviour will learn some lesson from the poor or negative reception received (connect to #2).

6. Lasts for a duration that will be believed, by the serious-minded, as excessive or outrageous, whenever the 'fool' comes back to his or her right senses.
