| FREE AND FAIR ELECTION Definition: (informal) An election that is free and fair. ______________________________________________________________________ * All fourteen elements should be in. BEFORE CASTING OF VOTES. 1. Campaign by party or parties and candidates was on a level - playing field. Monitored and adjudged as legally OK. And generally manifestos, policies and/or issues-based. 2. No candidate or party was barred, banned or excluded by the authority or even by 'mob' (= jungle law). That is, there was freedom by candidates to reach everywhere in precinct, etc. DURING THE CASTING OF BALLOTS. 1. Only one ballot to a voter - given and seen as and when given, transparently. 2. Polling booth is in excellent condition: secured, not opaque, sound-proof etc. 3. Voter not accompanied into the booth, even if voter is physically challenged. 4. Correct or valid ballot papers, with complete party's and/or candidate's logos, names, colour codes, etc., as applicable. 5. Voting materials available - ink pads, markers, pens, punchers etc., as necessary. 6. Ballot box(es) locked and secured and can only take in the ballot papers. AFTER THE CASTING OF VOTES. 1. Voting ended at the exact time stated by law - if there was an extension, it's as legally extended. 2. Counting of the votes, commenced immediately at the venue of voting (unless otherwise stipulated by law). 3. Counting of the votes was done in the presence of duly accredited party's and/or candidate's agent(s), relevant security officials and electoral umpires. 4. Counting and collation of results was done as stipulated by the relevant laws, taking care of possible invalidated ballots, recounts, etc. 5. Announcement of the results was made immediately at the venue of counting. 6. Certification or endorsement of the results by party, security and electoral agents was at the location of the vote count. ___________________________________________________ NO DISPUTES, NO RECOUNTS, NO LITIGATION, ETC.
