| FOSTER PARENT Definition: A man or woman acting as father or mother to a child who is not his or her offspring, nor a stepchild, and not legally adopted. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. * Let child keep his/her surname ! 1. Purposeful and necessary, in the foster child's opinion. 2. Doesn't assume the role forcefully, if this is possible. 3. Won't have child not knowing fosterage status, as everyone else will be aware of the relationship of child to dad or mom. 4. Does not discriminate against child, especially if the man or woman has another child or other children (to emphasize). 5. Must never remind child that he or she is no biological offspring. 6. Won't pressure child to make choices about future; can only guide. 7. Will willingly permit, or allow, child to leave, whenever desired. 8.
