Fool's errand
FOOL'S ERRAND

Definition: A task that has no hope of being done successfully.

1. Person sent on an errand is not a fool or the persons given particular task are not idiots or dunces.

2. No sign, inkling, warning or forewarning, etc. about the unlikelihood of success in attempting or performing assignment.

3. No impediments of a legal nature, before commencement of efforts or while 'at work'.

4. The wherewithal, with which success is expected to be achieved, is available and/or possessed.

5. Best effort(s) was/were believed put into the endeavour.

6. Unplanned loss, wastage, delays, etc. is suffered as a direct result of the errand.

7. (Reserved.) (Another person, animal, thing, will not succeed if an attempt is made to accomplish same task.)
