Definition: A person who is always encouraging other people to take strong political action, often causing trouble.

1. Person has a purpose and considers it necessary to cause trouble.

2. Stand of person is specific and identifiable. That is, 'activist' maintains a definite position in respect of a particular matter.

3. Encouragement is strictly within the bounds of the law (to emphasize).

4. Encouraging acts do not include a monetary inducement or the promise of direct financial, political, economic, etc. reward.

5. Person is credible and can therefore be believed (and obeyed). That is, some antecedent exists or individual has a reliable pedigree.

6. Suffers no unplanned loss in the process. Or person is ready to bear the consequences of inciting activities.

7. Person is permanently involved actively or directly. That is, will be in the thick of action, even if giving directives, from 'the rear'!

8. Achieves objective(s) (see definition).
