| FIGHTING CHANCE Definitions: i. (US) A possibility of winning sufficient to give an incentive to try hard, although the margin is very small. ii. (British English) (idiomatic - a fighting chance) A small chance of being successful if a great effort is made. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary to think of 'fighting'. That is, perseverance or hard work is believed required in situation, to help achieve ultimate goal(s). 2. Evaluation and assessment that was made, which revealed a touch slim (= very small) margin, was reliable, calculated correctly. 3. A willingness and an ability will be present, in the situation, to face a let-down or disappointment, shock or surprise, if perchance, things do not turn out right and well in the end. 4. The wherewithal, including time and space, a plan, a Plan B or an exit strategy, etc. as required, will be fully possessed. 5. Profit, benefit, advantage, gain, etc. that will be obtained if chance is successfully made use of, will be considered worthwhile. That is, end result will be valuable and sustainable in the end. 6. Situation will not be present ad infinitum. And/or some other persons will be desirous of also winning the same thing with sufficient possibility, if they also work hard (to emphasize). 7. Readiness to try will be based on a preparation and determination. That is, discouragement, repulsion, etc. will have no place in the scheme of things needed to realize ambition. 8. Hope will not be dampened, whatever the seeming problems or odds that might be stacked against who will try. That is, chance will not be allowed to slip away. (Connect to #7.)
