| FEUDAL SYSTEM Definition: (history) The system of economic, political and social organization which flourished in Europe (9th-14th centuries). It was based on relation of lord to vassal and the holding of land in feud. Vassals held land from a seigneur, and ultimately from the king, in return for homage and military service.
