| FAUX PAS Definitions: i. (from French) An action or a remark that causes embarrassment because it is not socially correct. ii. (formal) A socially embarrassing action or mistake. iii. A false step: a mistake. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements would be in. 1. Never intended or planned to be committed. 2. Noticed, realized and responded to immediately it occurs. 3. Upsetting and disappointing as it would not be what is or was expected from particular offender or culprit. 4. Does not lead to a devastating loss or regrettable consequence such as a punishment, being ostracized, suicide, etc. 5. Action or remark will not be forgotten by the public, even if they forgive and refuse to refer to it in the future. 6.
