Definition: A funny play for the theatre based on ridiculous and unlikely situations and events; this type of writing or performance.

* All eight elements should be in.


1. Purposeful for the writer/producer.

2. Considered necessary (to emphasize).

3. Advertised or promoted as a 'farce'!

4. Funny from the beginning to the end - intriguing, enthralling, interesting and more!! And seen or read completely through.

5. Extent of jokes, comedy, etc. is not so 'acerbic' to be 'rib-cracking' (connect to #6).

6. No unplanned loss, damage, etc. arises from play; written not to cause a regret, pain, etc. for theatre-goers/actors/actresses, etc. and/or the environment (well-acted or written).

7. Situation or event will never become a likelihood or turn real.

8. Serves purpose(s). That is, some benefit, gain, etc. (= fun!, therapy, etc.) was had by readers, cinema-goers from the play.
