Definition: A lack of food during a long period of time in a region.

1. Timely forecasted or predicted.

2. No food/grain reserves! Or reserves, if any, are depleting fast or getting quickly exhausted!

3. Loss or losses, in respect of healthiness, increased criminality, diseases, etc. is a sure fallout of situation.

4. Lack did not arise from non-planting of crops, closure of production plants, etc. (To emphasize, connect to #1.)

5. Lack provides a serious opportunity to think of solution(s) to the problem, especially in preparation for a possible future recurrence.

6. Lack ends before arrival of mass starvation and deaths! That is, importation, reliefs, humanitarian aids, etc. are provided at the nick of time, to rescue the malnourished.
