| FALSE POSITIVE Definition: A false positive is a mistaken result of a scientific test. For example, if the result of a pregnancy test is a false positive, it indicates that a woman is pregnant when she is not. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements would be in. 1. Can be explained by equipment failure, or substance inadequacy, or physical inappropriateness. That is, mistake would be discovered, sometime afterwards, to have been caused by a mishap or failing. 2. Inputs, components, raw materials, etc. used were all complete. 3. Processes and procedures adopted during test will all be correct. 4. The expected right and proper outcome or 'sane result' would have been known for certain; therefore error will be noticed quickly. 5. Impact or effect of mistake will be costly, devastating, worrying, etc. as unexpectedness will, no must, be reacted to in an unfavourable way. 6.
