| FAIR TRADE (1) Definition: A way of buying and selling products that makes certain that the original producer receives a fair price. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary for the producer to enjoy the 'full' fruits (= benefits) of their labour. 2. The industry or government will place no barrier or embargo on bargaining; no hoarding or price controls. 3. Returns inwards and purchases returns, if any, will not be unjustified. That is, unforeseen expenditure will not arise having sold product or as a result of economic unpredictability. 4. The buyer(s) will be fully aware of the potentials - realizable value, profitability, etc. - in the product to be purchased. 5. The middleman or wholesaler, before making an offer to a producer, would have taken all the fundamentals into consideration. 6. Payment will be prompt, in full and/or as agreed with the producer. 7. The tax regime in operation and the current labour relations will not put a strain on producer's income. 8.
